@Rudi --
I only have j602 installed on my MacBook Air running under Mavericks. But I
thought I'd try out j801 on a really fresh machine to see if it worked.
1. I downloaded and unzipped: j801a_mac64.zip
This gave me a folder: j64-801 in my Downloads folder -which I moved to
Applications.
Opened jcon801.app --after getting past the "unregistered developer"
gatekeeper :-\
Entered: i.6
--it worked ok.
Before trying *anything* else, entered: install'all'
--that worked too.
Exitted jconsole using: exit''
[I feel these steps are important]
Opened jqt801.app
Entered: i.6
--it worked ok.
Menu File > New temp
and wrote the line in the new window:
smoutput'hi'
and pressed the green arrow.
--that worked ok.
Also tried this:
JVERSION
Engine: j701/2011-01-10/11:25 build: Feb 6 2011 16:16:29
Library: 8.01.016
Qt IDE: 1.0.22/4.8.5
Platform: Darwin 64
Installer: j801 beta install
InstallPath: /Applications/j64-801
Haven't tried anything else, but it all works for me (so far).
However, knowing what I do about past betas, I suspect that if you do
*anything* different from what I've described, or your machine has wreckage
in it from old j701/j801 installs, you might well run into trouble.
For instance... I note you've moved unzipped folder j64-801 somewhere else
than Applications. Not saying that won't work, but...
