jqt is an excellent IDE suitable to my 14 year old girl sensibilities and
attention span. It provides all essential development functions with little to
no learning curve to the environment.

I'll say that in this sense, J is easier than python or ruby, due to its
integration. Perhaps an AOI installer for mac would be worthwhile though I've
managed ok with the previous instructions and awareness of an archive, and
dragging it to applications folder.

Subject: Re: [Jbeta] Installation instructions - expert help needed

I don't want to suggest that jconsole is only suitable for embedded
systems, & I have changed that language.

But I do feel strongly that we should point new users towards Qt IDE.
That system has so much more support for tutorials, training, debugging,
and script development that I can't imagine that a user new to J
wouldn't want to start with it.

I am trying to have this page tell everyone how to install J as they
wish, but steer the novice towards JQt + all the addons.
