This is a windows 10 setting called "Cursor & pointer size". Under that is
"Change cursor thickness". It defaults to 1, which I assume is pixel
thickness. I changed it to 8 so it is easy to see where it is on the
screen. The "term" window shows it wider, but the "edit" window doesn't.
But there are many applications which seem to ignore this setting. Like
chrome.
