I renamed c:\601 so that the directory did not exist. I downloaded a fresh copy of j601mbeta After installing, this fresh copy exhibited exactly the same problem as before. Note that previous to today, J was running fine. So this is probably some environmental issue, but I do not know how to isolate the problem.
