The 1st reason to avoid adding J folder to PATH is that it is unnecessary (after outstanding bugs are fixed).

The second reason is that it adds several probably unintended executables and can provide quite unintended new commands.

The 3rd reason is conflicts over existing names. For example jconsole is used by other systems and you only get one and which one depends on the order of things in PATH.

I am not sure I see why you think this.

If the J directory is added to the end of PATH, what problems
arise which can not arise in other contexts?
