It is late and I'm not as clearheaded as I would like -
but again this is real progress. Once again, I didn't
read install.txt and so just dropped j602 into /Applications

That worked fine, and didn't require that I authenticate
my desire to do it. That's because my own account has
admin privileges, but even if someone installs software
from a non-admin account, the standard way of installing
would be similar.

I agree with Oleg that the contents of j602 is surprising,
and for things like a symlink to jconsole you would have
to be more careful since the path really is

  .../j602/j602.app/Contents/MacOS/jconsole

rather than the all lower case version in install.txt

If there is a way to retain the development nature/feel
of j by having more visible files, that would be better.
Digging down through the normally invisible .app structure
is a bit off-putting for addons and other development
oriented activity.

But this is great progress and good to discuss.

Following the many suggestions I have repackaged J602 for Mac. There are still serious rough edges but it feels like progress. I have not updated the web site beta download page as I'd like to get some feedback first.
