I've just tired j701 on my browser and after a
bit of confused fiddling, it is up and running on
my MacBook Pro and my linux box. It's a bit strange
at first, but it certainly is an interesting concept!
On my home network, I can also bring it up on my
iPhone, but at work there are problems -- the server
stops responding after a short time. It's strange
how the phone and the Mac browser seem to be sharing
the same session -- maybe I should not be using both
together? The iPhone keyboard is so awkward for the
needed characters that it's more a trick than a useful
platform. But someone had a "Droid" the other day, which
has a real keyboard, and that might actually work ...
I'm still trying to figure things out, like
1) how do you quit the jconsole session? all I've been
able to do is kill the window or process ...
2) graphs seem to work with "jpdf" replacing "plot",
but failed when I tried 'bar' plot ... other things
in plot fail also
3) I've got a program that prints out a message with
each completion of an iteration. In j602 that ticks
along as it runs, but j701 saves all the messages and
spits them out at the end. Is there an easy fix?
Bottom line: it's great to see the J team dreaming
up, and implementing, such amazing new stuff.
