As I understand it then it is more a question of adding more front end possibilities rather than decommitting front ends. The session managers that are available now will still be available even if new front ends will be added. The new front ends will of course have different possibilities and will probably look different. The various users of J in various operating systems have different needs and favor different ways of running their applications. The session managers and/or front ends share the same engine and utilities. The new front ends may even mean that there will be more user defined front ends with various different looks and functionality.
