I get the expected behavior:

Note: in the output the word 'test' is the side effect of printing to the
console, and the number 4 is the proper effect of the
sentence. If we used 2 (text) instead of 4 (binary) as the RHA then this would
be more obvious, as the effects would be separated
by a newline.
