I should've been clearer. In J602, I can reproduce your output in the GUI J
session manager (C++ or Java frontend). I cannot
reproduce it in jconsole.
I suspect the issue is that you're using the "stdout binary" filehandle, 4, as
opposed to the "stdout textual" filehandle, 2. That
is, the following line executes correctly and identically in all frontends:
'test' 1!:2 ] 2
If you don't mind a trailing newline on your output, you can use this (or the
standard cover utilities, smoutput or echo) with
confidence. If the trailing newline is an issue, you're stuck with jconsole (I
imagine most applications that need binary stdout
would run under jconsole).
