I think Ric got something here. I have a few personal experience with this.

The most recent one (and is typical of my support operations) is that there was
some change in data structure in a factory in China and I'm in the Philippines.
So I connected through VPN using a 128kbps 4G (Wi-Max) connection and used VNC
to remote control the server.

I used PM a lot and I have a lot of small files which are "compiled" to one
huge IJS file. I know which source file that is needed to be changed but I've
deployed the "compiled" IJS file and I just need to change a few characters.

The connection was so slow that pressing page down means 1 to 5 minutes of idle
time. Searching for the offending script doesn't work since its a common enough
code. In the end, I just asked them (client) to email the distributed IJS file,
Just to be safe, I modified my repository copy and complied and compare it with
the production code then sent it back with instruction to overwrite their copy.

In this instance, being able to fold the distributed file by the source file
name would have saved a few of my hair. :P

Right, and my suggestion of supporting Sections is about combining the
advantages of both. One big source file, but easily navigable.

This means that potentially everyone is happy using the same files. Unless
there are other advantages to small files that I'm not aware of?
