What should J look like to a new user? The install should be easy. Once installed it should work without requiring the user to install anything else. Perhaps an icon or script be included with the install which brings up the default browser and J is off and running. Maybe a simple J script included with the install to step the new user in installing the GTK and tools needed with it. It could also help the new user install addons.
Where does j.exe fit into the plans now. Originally it was to be kept but not enhanced. Just playing around I made a copy of my J6 library and replaced the J6 j.dll with the J7 j.dll to see what happened. Everything worked fine. The only thing that got confused was PACMAN. It pulled in the J7 updates instead of J6. No surprise. The beta is really shaping up, but there are still rough edges. This is fine. I just hope that the intent that the actual release be easy to install and get running.
