I've never used the editor inside gtkide to do text editing except changing
values inside config files. I guess a large portion of current functions is
provided by the underlying textview or gtksourceview component.  Of course
it is possible to override some default behavior, but IMO it is already 'right'
if its sophiscation can rivals that of notepad.

Just my 2 cents and Chris may have another idea.
