Answering question 1 below, NO it didn't mention how to install gtk binary.
I think I confused matters by doing the 'install' jpkg 'all' before I clicked on the jgtk701 icon. To test that idea, I removed the J701 folder, repeated the install of J32 Windows, and clicked on the jgtk701 icon without first doing the 'install' jpkg 'all' . Then I DID get instructions how to install the gtk binary. I followed the instructions, and now the jgtk701 icon produces the "Term" window as it should.
