This long thread is almost 1 month dormant. You may remember that Bill Lam helped me a lot to get jgtk to launch on my PowerPC Mac using Tiger OSX 10.4.x using X11's gtk. Well, soon after that and after exercising jgtk only a little I had problems where my Mac turned itself off soon after awakening from sleep. So I replaced the PRAM battery on my Mac after some puzzlement to figure out that the battery was the problem.
Then I got the Mac working again and relaunched jgtk successfully, but the problem with the Mac shutting down reappeared! So I said to myself, "I fixed the wrong thing, I'll get back to this problem after the holidays, maybe." Then later when I started to investigate the problem further I thought before I reported the problem to this forum, I would experiment to see if the problem was X11 itself, and not jgtk, so I launched X11 alone. There was no shutdown problem. So I next decided to test jgtk one more time before making this report, but jgtk would no longer start (I thought that it would not, but it might have been "hiding" as I describe later). When working with Bill earlier, I had been using the following command in my "terminal" application which is the unix console. open-x11 ~/j701/bin/jgtk.command Well, X11 opened and displayed its console, but not JGTK. So I typed the following command directly into the X11 console. % ~/j701/bin/jgtk.command |control error: script | 3 :0'' |[-7] /Users/brian/j701/addons/gui/gtk/gtk.ijs i. 6 0 1 2 3 4 5 The good news is that jgtk seems to be hiding there somewhere, but without the nice ide window. Now I am going to sleep my Mac and I'll be back in a short while... ... Ok, I'm back. So far so good: the Mac has not shut down. So maybe the problem occurs later in the jgtk, when the IDE window properly opens. But I am not equipped t diagnose the j error message and I would understand if Bill and everyone else does not want to get involved to diagnose the error. But there I am. Thanks for reading this saga.
