I've successfully installed the new binaries from scratch on:
  Win7 (Win32 User install)
  Ubuntu 10.04 (Linux64 System install)

Gtk IDE working on both systems.

Is it possible that you were attempting to do a system install and
that the downloaded gtk files weren't able to write to the program
files folder? Can you report JVERSION?
