As much as I love my PPC iMac, with its bits in sensible order, I agree with your decision.
Five years ago, when I bought my last PPC (G5) I did it even though the writing was on the wall and the Intel iMac was the "current machine" - I don'g regret having done that and it has worked very well. But even thought the bits are in annoying order, my new i7 iMac is a fantastic machine - I love it (too :) . Wonderful that J701 is available for PPC - but I'm really looking forward to having 64 bit J to use the address space available in this astonishing computer. Thank you for all the great progress in making J701 a giant step forward. - joey At 11:02 AM -0500 11/01/19, Eric Iverson wrote: >Mac powerpc is at its EOL (end of life) according to Apple and several major >software suppliers. > >Over the last weeks Jsoftware has expended too much in trying to get jgtk to >run on mac powerpc. > >This message officially announces Jsoftware's position on mac powerpc. > >J701 is available for the mac powerpc but does NOT include jgtk. > >J701 is the last J mac powerpc release. > >The upside to this is that Mac intel 64 will be an officially supported J701 >product. > >It is possible that community effort can provide jgtk for mac powerpc but >Jsoftware won't be involved. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
