Apologies - I wasn't very specific.

I'm running SS 6.2 through an SB2 to a new tube amp/speaker setup that
I have. I was looking at experimenting with the preamp feature (I seem
to have the opposite problem to most - volume control doesn't cover the
full range).

I upgraded to 6.2 last night and noticed a significant drop-off in
quality when listening to FLAC and WAV files. Sound was flat, lacking
in top-end etc.

To my ear it sounded like these files were being transcoded to MP3 - By
default I have unlimited bitrate, etc, but perhaps something was
interferring with this. To that end I found it very difficult to
distinguish between FLAC and AAC (usually it's pretty apparent).

It's quite likely that I have just screwed up my install. I'll try 6.2
again tonight and see if there is any transcoding going on (i presume
presence of the lame/similar process is would be the indicator of
this?). It's likely that I haven't experimented with the player/audio
settings enought.

AIFF files were not affected in the same way (I have a sample set of
WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, AAC that I have been using for auditions). This
is what what made me wonder about the above.

(p.s. I meant AIFF rather and AAC in my original post).
