I think there's something slightly wierd going on with scanning of flac files. I've tried a couple of nightlies from the last week or so and each time I scan I get a few albums where the genre info isn't read. It's not the same albums each time either.
I'm currently using SlimServer Version: 6.5b1 - 6308 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 with MySQL.
