Why is it that the buffer empties at the end of every song? I can see this being the behavior for the last song in a playlist but as long as there are more songs to be played it seems to me that the squeezebox should be filling the buffer with the next song's data as the current song's data is finishing.
By letting the buffer empty between songs this increases the possibility of having a buffer underrun at the start of each song. It seems to me that this could introduce a gap between songs. I'll admit that I do not hear it but it seems like we're just asking for gaps between songs! Am I mistaken about this? I've seen multiple posts over the past few days all talking about the buffer emptying between songs. I've also seen it happen using the Network Performance plugin. Can someone explain the rationale for this?
