I've switched the auto update on for FW and it works fine. I'm using the config file to select the FW version and it gets around the problem of having to manually update the units.
I'm not sure if you can switch this on from the server but from the units hold the power button and when the fist screen appears select the left arrow button, then scroll down to 'View Current Settings' then use the up arrow button to select auto update. I found that when changing the setting to 'ON' it seemed to cycle quickly back to 'OFF'. I got around this by pressing the right arrow button twice rapidly. Once this was completed I used the arrow buttons to get back to the front menu and selected 'Connect to...' and all has worked fine since.
