I'm always totally amazed that SlimDevices appear so unconcerned about

They are VERY concerned. Trouble is, user perception varies. I do think the Default skin was a huge improvement over what used to be the default (EN). It was an offering from "pro", and I think it is very clean and nicely in line with the overall SD style. However, there is always room for improvements and everyone will have a different view of what defines a proper UI. Many tout iTunes. That makes me vomit, frankly, as does all of those other programs out there that blatantly try to mimmick that very same layout. the Fishbone skin is often criticised for it's clutter. to be honest, that does make me chuckle a bit, as strangely my wife also accuses me of clutter. Even the design for Fishbone was stolen from a pic submitted to the forum. I then added what I felt like adding, and a few things I didn't want to but felt kind enough to bow to pressure.

6.5 tries to address some of the maintenance issues, as far as allowing url format changes to be made from a central location, as well as more centralised css for basic layout design. As the core EN templates change, all skins can benefit from the updates. however, even today I've had to face the fact that css is incapable of following it's own rules. In being flexible, there will be a price to pay. Thank goodness it doesn't come down to one option for OS, one option for UI and one option for browser.

I've put in some updates. hope it works. hope IE doesn't screw it up. Hope firefox doesn't bitch too much about it in the console.
