I'm still without slimserver. :-( I upgraded to the latest that testing had to offer but still got the transactions not supported error. I then switched to mysql 4.1, but got the same error. In desperation, I've removed all mysql-related debian packages from my system, but now get a different error at startup:
================= Starting SlimServer music server: slimserver The following modules failed to load: DBD::mysql To download and compile them, please run: /usr/local/slimserver/Bin/build-perl-modules.pl DBD::mysql Exiting.. Undefined subroutine &main::cleanup called at /usr/local/slimserver/Slim/bootstrap.pm line 260. END failed--call queue aborted at /usr/local/slimserver/slimserver.pl line 87. ================= When I run "/usr/local/slimserver/Bin/build-perl-modules.pl DBD::mysql", it fails saying that it can't find mysql.h: ========================= Failed to determine directory of mysql.h. Use perl Makefile.PL --cflags=-I<dir> to set this directory. For details see the INSTALL.html file, section "C Compiler flags" or type perl Makefile.PL --help There was a problem creating Makefile - exiting! ========================== mysql.h isn't on my system now that I've removed all the mysql packages. I'm confused - I thought that the slimserver mysql binaries were not meant to depend on mysql being installed on the system in any way. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I unfortunately don't have any time this weekend to spend on this sort of thing and would really quite like my music collection back. ;-) Dan mentioned that this had been discussed previously, but my limited searching hasn't turned it up. If someone could point me to that discussion that would help a lot.
