You can work around this bug for now by installing ActivePerl and
running
slimserver.pl instead of slim.exe.


I tried it and it works.  I installed the free Active Perl for Windows
from
http://downloads.activestate.com/ActivePerl/Windows/5.8/ActivePerl-5.8.8.819-MSWin32-x86-267479.msi
and created a shortcut to start the server manually until this issue is
resolved.

The shortcut for my installation has the following target:
C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer_6.5.1\server\slimserver.pl"
