I'm seeing exactly the same thing. Artist information is missing from both the web interface and the Squeezebox display only for the song that is currently playing and previously played songs. Upcoming songs still show the artist correctly. It happens for me both in random mix and when playing whole albums. I'm using SlimServer Version: 6.5.0 - 9916 and I don't think this problem existed when I first installed it.
