at some point, i might have said the wrong thing...

u correctly said the internet buffering value setting is in server
setting, network. earlier or in other threads, i might have said that
its a player setting. i don't think it is a player setting at this
point, just a SS setting and a SN setting.

however, when SB is connected to an internet stream, whether directly
or by SS, i do think it takes its cue on how many seconds to buffer
from that setting.

andy or someone knowledgable would have to explain how SB remembers
that setting once it "detatches" itself from SS when directly playing a
stream, but i think it could just recall the setting from SS in its own
internal memory, connected to SS or not.

when i first encountered problems, i set it to 30. for a while, this
didn't help at all. however, its still at 30 now, and everything works
well now.

if you want, i could try changing it back to 3 and seeing if it still
worked fine, and my guess is it would. but i just haven't yet b/c i
want it to be as robust as possible given what i know now.

in other words, i don't think its a magic bullet cure all. it might
not matter what you do, depending on your ISP, and given that the SB
simply isn't as robust an option as winamp (or other software based
streamers).

tell me, do you get problems when using winamp (or whatever) to listen
to those same streams on that same computer? i'd really like to know
that.
