I just tried the latest version of the new skin and due to the changed font sized I no longer feel that the screen usage is a problem.
Besides point 2-6 which I mentioned earlier in this post: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=224857 I also noticed some other possible improvements: 1. When I enter the "Years" menu and have albums with album art and albums without album art, the alignment of the albums without album art is a bit strange. I think it would be better if all album titles were shown directly beneath each other independent if they have album art or not. 2. I'm not sure the rounded corners on the outer border is needed. I think it might look equally nice if the outer border would have normal corners, but you maybe already have checked this and decided that rounded corners look better ? 3. The clickable area on the down arrows beside for example "My Music" is pretty small. I'm not sure how to improve it, but I currently often accidently get the "title click" instead of the "arrow click". If might just be that some sort of visible feedback is needed to show that the arrow is active when I hover above it. 4. Maybe it would be good to have some title beside the search field so one knows that it is a search field ? 5. In the current playlist window, the currently playing song is highlighted in the same way as the highlighting when you hover above a song. I think it would be good if the currently playing song was marked/highlighted a bit different. 6. The Shuffle button in the status window, doesn't seem to work. Nothing happens when I click on it. In the classic skin you can choose to shuffle tracks or shuffle albums. How is this accomplished here, am I just supposed to click several times or is there some other way to do it ? 7. I can't see the currently active repeat and shuffle states. I would have expected the buttons to be marked in some way when repeat and shuffle is active, but I currently can't see any indication of this. This might be the same problem as the previous point about non working shuffle button. 8. In the classic skin there is down and up arrows beside each song in the current playlist, these doesn't exist in the new default skin. I'm not sure if this is intentionally or not, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I would personally not miss them, but I suspect people that are using SlimServer to create and manage static playlist would miss them a lot.
