Huh?

Fedora 7 'originally shipped'
(http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/releases/7/Fedora/i386/os/Fedora/)
with flac 1.1.4 which was later updated to 1.2.1.  Both provide
libFLAC.so.8, which would make them compatible without recompiling
anything else.

Anyway, I got the impression that it was just the flac binary that was
used by squeezecenter?  Is the issue that some distributions don't
supply this?
