What I did was something along the lines of:

1. create a new empty database in MySQL.
2. create a new server folder for the SVN trunk, and point it at the correct
repositry branch (http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/slim/trunk/server), and do
an SVN update.
3. copy the preference file into the new folder.
4. run squeeze center in a CMD window, telling it to import preferences.
5. stop squeeze center and edit the new prefs file (under C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Application Data\Squeeze Center\prefs), to point it at the
new DB.
6. run squeeze center as a service.
7. bring up WebUI, telling it to ignore the wizard.

Then, you have two independent setups. Not much point having a single DB, as
each time you switch, SC would have to rebuild it anyway.

Step 4 will I think cause the old DB to be upgraded for SC7, so if you ever run
6.5 again, it would need to do a full rescan, but after that, they should work
independantly.
