Announcing Instant SqueezeCenter Beta

Inspired by Michael's SlimCD and SlimNAS, Instant SqueezeCenter is a
single CD that will perform a fully automated installation and
configuration of a standalone Linux SqueezeCenter server with minimal
user input. The target user is someone who wants a dedicated (probably
headless) server to store music and run SqueezeCenter. It should also
be useful for dedicated VM installations. Advanced linux knowledge is
not necessary. The intention is to be as turnkey as possible.

This is s Beta release. Please test and provide feedback, bug reports,
suggestions, etc.

When booted, the CD will automatically do the dollowing:
- Format your hard disk(s) and install a trimmed-down copy of CentOS 5
Linux
- Install SqueezeCenter along with mplayer, lame and AlienBBC (for RTSP
and WM)
- Configure music and playlist folders that can be accessed as Windows
shares
- Configure the server to automatically synchronize with public time
servers
- Configure the firewall and SELinux for proper operation
- Enable automatic updates of all Linux and SqueezeCenter packages

Basic instructions

http://ip-address:9000. When the wizard runs, accept the default music

- Add/change content in your music and playlist folders from another
pc. Browse to the "squeezecenter" windows share as user
"squeezecenter" and the password you entered at the end of
installation.
- If you want to login to your server for admin purposes, use ssh (or
putty) and login as root.
