I had an older version of SC7 installed, (perhaps 2007_10_30) or so. I
uninstalled and then installed 2007_12_12. The system tray icon showed
"starting" but would not start. I then tried the menu item SqueezeCenter
Startup Options and selected the choice to run as a service where I
provide my login credentials. (btw, this is how I had the previous
version configured, but I was not asked any of this information during
the installation of 2007_12_12). The dialog finished and I had a
system tray icon, but SC had still not started. I went to the list of
services and located the SqueeceCenter service. It was stopped. I tried
to start it but it failed with a logon credential error ("Error 1069:
The service did not start due to a logon error"). It is odd that in the
services dialog, the ONLY service that has my username in the Log On As
column is the SC service. All the other services say "Local System" or
"Network Service".
I then selected the LogOn tab in the SC service dialog. The
credentials I had supplied during the SqueezeCenter Startup Options
procedure were in place. I typed them back in again (in case the
password was corrupt), but it still did not start. I then went back to
the LogOn tab of the SC service and selected "Local System account"
instead of "This account". I then manually tried to start the service
and this worked.
Clearly there is something wrong with the configuration in the
installer, or my machine is wonked from a prior install.
Additionally, I had also tried the option to start on logon when
running the SqueezeCenter Startup Options but that did not work
either.
Any idea what is wrong?
