Similar to the other thread concerning the 13-Dec nightly build, I was
having trouble with the 14-Dec nightly and not being able to do a
firmware upgrade on my Squeezeboxes. I downloaded the nightly from
today (18-Dec) and tried installing that.

I have the same problem which is:
* The "firmware update needed" display comes up and the "spinning
circle" is really, really, jumpy. It sometimes goes forward one
"block"; sometimes any number of blocks; other times it "resets" to
just the "one block" at the top. (Which is more of a UI thing and not
a bug but it might be related to the problem - no idea).
* I press and hold the brightness button on the remote. One of two
things happen:
- if I'm on a wireless connection, after holding the button for
about 10-15 seconds the screen switches to the brightness selection
screen where the text cycles through bright to dim to off type thing.
If I release the button then it goes to "connecting to wireless
network" and gets stuck there - forever.
- figuring it was a weird wireless issue, I went for a wired setup
(obviously pulling the plug to force a reboot and changing the
connection type). When I hold the brightness button (no matter how
long) NOTHING happens. The screen maintains the same "firmware update
needed" display with the jumpy spinning circle. It will then stay
"stuck" on that screen no matter what.

I've tried doing the upgrade about a dozen times to no avail. I will
point out my three Squeezeboxes are of the earlier generations - the
"short and deep" type. One of them even had the original style display
for which I ended up ordering the "DIY replacement" to be the green
animated style.

Also, I'm using OS X 10.5 server for my server which runs php with
version information of: PHP 5.2.4 (cli) (built: Sep 23 2007 22:34:35)
Copyright (c) 1997-2007 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2007 Zend Technologies
if that matters.

The logs for player.firmware debug and slimproto debug can be found at:

Thanks!
