>> ARTIST=Paul Simon >> ARTIST=Art Garfunkel >> ALBUMARTIST=Simon & Garfunkel >> >Yes, it has been added this week. And computers are stupid: how should they >know that the above in fact are only two? > Yes, computers are stupid, but they are very good at math, given the right instruction ;)
SC already knows there are 2 artists in the 1 band on the album (cos it stores the info in the contributors table, and it tells me so at the top of the album info screen). To add the two counts together seems strange. I'd expect either a count of 2 artists or a count of 1 album artist. >You wouldn't want them to consider "Elvis" the same artist as "Elvis >Costello", would you? Don't care - I don't think I've got either in my collection ;) Joking aside, I don't understand your comment. They are different artists and would never be considered the same. If they had songs appearing on a compilation album, I would have multiple artists on an album, and the count of artists on the album should be as such. However, if Elvis made a guest appearance on one track on an Elvis Costello album where Elvis Costello is defined as the album artist on each track, or Elvis Costello happened to be the name of the Band that Elvis played in, then the count of the artists on the album should be either the number of artists on the album, or 1 for the album artist. Either way, but not both! Phil _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
