I've now found that all albums that contain duplicate tracks have an entry in the ALBUMARTIST tag, so this includes some albums that are not Various Artists albums and do not include the tag COMPILATION=1.
However, very strangely, not all albums marked with the AlbumArtist tag list duplicate tags, just the huge majority of them. I can't figure out any characteristscs that the ones that do not have duplicate tracks shown have in common. All plugins are disabled and I've performed at least four full wipe and rescans now.... changing various settings along the way, and whatever I do I can't seem to get rid of the duplicate tracks. There is one small oddity in the way that SC7 is displaying album details. In this scren sometimes the ALBUMARTIST is listed and sometimes it is not. Again, which albums have it displayed and which don't appears to be random.
