I still have this problem with the scanner and playlists. My music collection is in a directory tree like this:
\artist\album\nn - artist - title And, there is also a default playlist in the album folder named: \artist\album\00 - artist - album.m3u However, when I let the SC7 scanner include m3u's in the scan such folders will cause duplicates. When I search up the album it shows all songs twice, SC7 knows that it's the same files as they are clearly listed with the exact same UNC path. I have all my files on a Windows domain DFS and the SC7 service accesses them via full UNC path.
