I suceeded when trying out what you proposed. It turned out that it were the file attributes that made the trouble. All files had their attributes set to "AS". When I unchecked the "s" system bit on all files the scanner worked fine. Probably those attributes were set when I copied all my music files from my previous slimserver installation which was running on a linksys NSLU2 NAS. Until now I am running SC as an application.
