A few days ago I managed to get a battery and cradle for my old beta
controller and started to use it. As soon as I'd done the firmaware
update it displayed the message "Invalid mac address or uuid. Please
contact support". I used the Continue menu item and it all continued to
work fine, so I forgot about it. This morning (two days later) the
screen is displaying the message again. I'm not too sure why as nothing
has changed with my set up since I stuck the thing back in the cradle
last night.

I've looked at the bug:
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=7647
but it appears to have been resolved and I'm not sure I understand what
it's describing anyway.

I haven't contacted support as the controller is a beta unit and
imagine that it comes without support, warranty etc.

I'm posting not because this message causes me any great discomfort but
in the spirit of information sharing and general enlightenment.

I'm running the final 7.0.1 release:
SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0.1 - 19705 @ Wed May 14 19:43:37 PDT 2008 -
Windows XP - EN - cp1252
Controller firmware: 7.0.1 r2448

The mac address printed on the back of the unit is not the same as the
mac address displayed in Settings.

Other numbers:
M/N C-RL65
P/N 830-000019
PIED: LZ734AD0034
