I got this working today; and found it has pros and cons over James' third-party plugin. I can't decide which one is best to use now!
1. Both automatically set "Repeat Playlist" mode. I was hoping the new official plugin may have found a better way around this issue, because it's annoying - I have to remember to turn repeat playlist mode off after listening to last.fm. 2. I like the way I can navigate into a playing last.fm song and from there select to love, ban or browse the artist. When browsing the artist, I can select to play similar artists radio or top fans radio, read the artist biography or browse similar artists or tags. 3. I noticed that Artist Biography was truncated when reading in the player UI. I tried this in WebUI (Default skin) and seemed okay. However, the artist had changed. I haven't reproduced the truncated text on PlayerUI since. 4. I miss the history of played last.fm songs. It would be nice to see the history of the last n songs in the current playlist and be able to browse them. 5. It doesn't seem possible to configure favorite last.fm stations in the plugin. It's a different way of working, as the new plugin allows searches on artist name or tag name, and from the results, add that artist or tag as a favorite. From favorites, I can click on the item (eg. an artist name), and it brings up the last.fm artist menu options, from which it is possible to "Play Similar Artists Radio". It doesn't seem to provide a direct link to start playing the similar artists radio as a favorite. I am used to going into last.fm plugin and selecting one of my favorite stations (could be an artist, tag, user name, etc) and it would start playing. I think last.fm configured favorites should appear in the last.fm menus, and any "play lastfm radio" links should be allowed to be stored as SC favorites. Overall, a good start to official Last.fm support, thanks! Phil _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
