Recent nightly versions of SC come up with a message when installing to the effect that 'McAfee Firewall found ... this may cause problems' Then a 'probing firewall' message. But no message to say "OK" or "Not OK". Since SC runs fine I assume I am OK, but it would be nice if the 'probing firewall' dialog came back with an unambiguous result...like 'Firewall Settings OK for SC'. As it is, I'm left hanging a little not really knowing if SC will run properly or not. (as I say, I know it does run; I'm just thinking of the eventual release of 7.1 when a newby installs 7.1 & gets this ambiguous message during installation).
Also, per another thread I opened which turned out also to be related to McAfee, http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49131 Yes, I could get the scanner to scan by downgrading McAfee's scan status....but this is surely not the right way to go. SC scanner should be able to run alongside McAfee's virus protection programs. I recently had to buy another program to get rid of AntivirusPro 2008 & some of its derivatives. This virus invaded my system when my McAfee was in 'downgraded' mode. Not sure if McAfee would have caught it of not running in downgraded mode....but bottom line, SC shouldn't require us to downgrade our virus scanning applications.
