I agree that it's difficult for anti-virus programs to keep ahead of the game, but that was not really the point of my post. My first point was re the firewall warning. My second point (which you responded on), was in reference to McAfee Viruscan. I had to downgrade Viruscan from real time scanning 'all files' to scanning only program & doc files. This was to get SC scanner to work. Ben advised me to get Viruscan to avoid scanning just the *.my* files...but McAfee cannot be as specific as that. It's either 'all' or 'program & doc' files. It seems a little like the tail wagging the dog when SC can only run by downgrading Viruscan programs.
