china,

i appreciate the support. here's how i see it:

i gave up on mcafee long ago. i think it sucks. if i were you, i'd
try avast. it keeps me clean, (and i use windows defender and windows
firewall too). i don't know why mcafee doesn't work with slim, but it
probably isn't slims fault. i had problems with mcafee long b4 i had
slim.

the whole browser thing is another story altogether. windows is #1,
thats the market reality. IE7 is the #1 browser, also the market
reality.

now, i have np believing that IE7 is buggy and can't do what it should.
but in such cases, the software should be designed around it, meaning
you simply got to work with whats there since its the market leader.

what is unacceptable, is the idea that i should install something other
than the #1 OS default. and this is hw its different from AV since the
OS has no AV by default. these problems aren't going to force me into
a new browser (they aren't nearly severe enough) that i don't want, and
it amazes me that anyone would do that, but i have no beef with that,
other then i just wouldn't expect others to think i SHOULD do it.

the bottom line is these are bugs, and they aren't resolved by simply
complaining that IE7 sucks, even if thats true.
