I just posted a new version of SyncOptions, version 7a11, that gives a new option that kinda does this. SyncOptions will now always save a Squeezebox's playlist just before it joins a sync group (and begins to play the playlist that the *other* player had loaded). If you enable the new "restore playlist after unsyncing" feature, SyncOptions will, well, restore the previous playlist when the Squeezebox leaves the sync group. SyncOptions always saves the playlist before the sync, so even if you disable the restore option, you can manually restore the playlist when you want to (the saved playlists have names like "SyncOptions-Player Name-00_04_20_11_22_33").
