Well, I guess I'll never work out what happened. Decided to try to upgrade firmware of wireless router (Linksys WAG 200G). Unfortunately, something froze during the upgrade, rendering the router dead. So threw more money at the beast & currently with a new TP-Link 108M router all seems OK. Wireless strength to Transporter is now 96. (TP-Link has Extended Range feature & a 'bigger' aerial than the Linksys). Back to SC 7.3 23686
More trouble though as my Duet doesn't start up on the new wireless router. Seems like its somehow stuck with the old router settings & cannot connect to the new wireless network? Controller too gets stuck during set-up .... cannot move forward or back once it has selected a wireless network. Wireless network is working fine though to Transporter & a separate laptop.
