I had a similar error and uninstalled (apt-get remove squeezecenter)
moved "/var/lib/squeezecenter/cache" ("mv cache cache.old") then
re-installed (apt-get install squeezecenter).

This recreated the cache directory and I was able to use the web
interface as normal again. Not aware of this creating any other
problems (yet!), and means you don't have to do a completely fresh
install.
