moonbase,

i have read very carefully this thread, but i'm confused...

is there a reason you don't store all the songs on a given disc in one
folder or dir?

btw, if all songs on a disc are in one dir, then my exp is if they
don't have an albumartist tag, or a tag treated as albumartist, (like
TPE2 can be), and you have even one artist mismatch, SC will call it a
comp, (which means its using that logic to guess at the classification
since that logic can and does misclassify things as comps that aren't
comps).

so anyway, are you saying that a comp is NOT detected, and SHOULD BE
even if tracks for the same disc are stored in multiple folders?

i'm not sure how you would deal with the so called "greatest hits"
issue as phil pointed out if you didn't look at folder structure tho,
whats your suggestion? (i actually already do mine like this:
"Greatest Hits (Queen)" which i think is a hell of a lot easier than
counting on SC logic, but i do it so other apps can separate them
easy)

personally, i want an option to be able to turn off all the logics, i
simply don't need them. the big question is why does SC feel the need
to make everything fit into one "master" artist list, and force
non-optional logics that force users like me into doing things i
wouldn't otherwise do but to undo what SC is forcing me into?

besides, why only ONE master artist list? in winamp i can browse by
TPE1, TPE2, and any other tag value. i don't have to pick one or the
other.

i say SC artist lists should allow for different methods of browsing:

1. current method, (using logics etc)
2. ALL artists
3. albumartists

don't force me into one method only.
