Hi - I'm running SC 7.4 24614, SB3 Firmware: 122 and playing aac files
has got me confused.

I think 7.4's moved transcoding of these from mov123 to faad? But
unless I explicity associate aac file types with QuickTime on my PC
(WinXP SP3 - QT's installed because I use iTunes) SC7 can't play them.
I'd been playing around with MediaMonkey so my file associations got
changed, and thus broke playback of aac on my SqueezeBox3.
Reassociateing them with QT fixed it.

My file types settings are...

File format aac > stream format flac > decoder faad/flac

File format aac > stream format mp3 > decoder *greyed out* (don't
bitrate limit, so haven't bothered with LAME)

File format aac > stream format pcm > decoder faad

...which I think are default? faad.exe is certainly installed in
C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread.
This is a 100% clean install of 7.4.

So if I'm using faad, why won't my files play unless I associated them
with QT?

The files in question are iTunes plus 256kbps aac, no DRM. Files are
100% ok, no faults with them.

Not a drama any more, but just curious. Thanks!
