I'm running Avast, not McAfee.  Besides, I completely disabled the
antivirus and got exactly the same results.  It doesn't appear to be
anti-virus related.  The scanner is throwing an exception on my system.
In the event viewer under application events, I find the following:

Faulting application scanner.exe, version 25665.0.0.0, faulting module
unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0a2f7225.
