I'm not sure what the plan was, but I thought Extension Downloader was going to be enhanced to make it more accessible.
I think in its current form it fails. It doesn't make sense to be in Advanced Settings, yet for Plugins to be it's own tab in settings. I really don't think that much of the actual extension downloader page. - Having to find and enter third-party repository urls to get started is harder than clicking a link to download the plugin. - Having entered several repositories, you end up with multiple tables on the ED page. It's hard work finding a plugin, having to look through all those tables. A bit confusing, I think. Too many tables. No migration path doesn't help for transitioning to ED: - it detects manually installed plugins, but doesn't indicate if there are newer versions available via repositories. - I tried to copy plugins into the ED plugins folder, but it doesn't detect them, so to transition, I have to find and install all plugins again. _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
