Hi Phillip, Yes, it would be nice to support track specific year tags.
If you use id3v2.4, then you'd probably use TDOR (original release time) for the original release dates of the individual songs and TDRL (release time) for the what you might call the "album year". There's also TDRC (recording time) which Slimserver seems to be mapping YEAR, though I'd probably argue that it is better to use the release dates. Slimserver is currently ignoring TDRL and TDOR. And while we're on the subject, it'd sure be nice if Slimserver stored these as dates rather than years so multiple albums released by an artist could be correctly sorted in the browse artist page.
