Are you sure you've caught all songs and made the ARTIST tag consistent? http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=10324 If you have a single compilation with the artist missing the diacritics, then you could have that problem (dependent on the scan order). In my opinion, any differences in artist tag should cause a separate artist record. Try loading the library into another application, such as Foobar, to identify which one is faulty? Maybe you have multiple tag formats in a file, eg. id3v1 and v3 tags, or FLAC and id3 or APE?
